Legend has it that mother dragon with her children landed in the bay that known as Ha Long, nowadays (the bay that dragon landed) according to Jade Emperor 's order. In order to stop the invader's vessels, dragons spat out innumerable pearls which turned into jade stone islands and islets the moment they touched water.
The magnificent Ha Long Bay with her 3000 islands and islets of pinnacle-shaped limestone had been recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site since 1994. Ha Long is an excellent example of a karst landscape created by a complex chain during millions of years of geological movement. The best way to appreciate this magical scene is from a boat, cruising between these karst cliffs which looms like fairy-tale castles, completed with rocky spires and hidden caves.
